The 76th Edition of the Galax Old Fiddlers Convention concluded its week-long event by announcing the winners in traditional fashion in the wee hours of Sunday morning, August 14th, 2011. In this year's list of winners were Mountain Roads Recordings artists' Zeb Snyder (age 15) who captured 1st Place in the Adult Guitar Division and sister Samantha (age 13) who was the winner of the Adult Bluegrass Fiddle Divsion. 

Both Samantha and Zeb are members of the Snyder Family Band from Lexington, NC. Zeb, the current 2011 SC Guitar Champion, continues to rack up the accolades wherever he performs. Samantha was determined to capture this year's top prize after finishing in 2nd place last year to her fiddle teacher. Both Snyders have captured top honors in festivals and fiddlers convention throughout the region.

The Snyder Family Band is made up of Samantha and Zeb along with father, Bud on upright bass, mother Laine with harmony vocals and they are sometimes joined on stage by five-year-old Owen on vocals and guitar. The Snyders have become a bluegrass music sensation over the past several years and are favorites at festivals and venues around the country. As this year's competition results indicate, don't think of this young group as a youth band. They can hold their own with the best bluegrass musicians and vocalists peforming today.

The Snyder Family Band is set to release their second album entitled, "Stages" on the Mountain Roads Recordings record label on October 25th, 2011. This album follows their first release on the MRR label, "Comin' On Strong". The Snyder Family Band really is coming on strong!. Look for them at a festival or show near you.
